Old Photos of the West Country of England

plate camera

The camera used to take some of the photos in the West Country Image archive - an Adams Club plate camera.

The Adams Club plate camera was made in London between 1890 and about 1925. It used the larger 6 ½" x 4 ¾" glass plate negatives held in double dark-slides. As standard it came with a top of the range Goerz Dagor lens, and was generally fitted on a turntable stand.
